DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPORTANCE OF BODY LANGUAGE

Last Friday we checked out Body Language at Music Hall of Williamsburg and had a really great time dancing to their fuuuunky set. The Detroit band blend disco, electro, funk, pop and jazz and the result is soulful sonic magic. They played favorites from their last EP, Social Studies, and their new LP (out yesterday), Grammar. The new songs were well received and we loved the afro-punk tribal beats. Angelica Bess was a revelation on vocals and, amazingly, glockenspiel. Get it, girl.

The only bad thing about the show was it’s location. MHW is a breeding ground for Williamsburg assholes. The area by the stage was actually less crowded then the back, which was full of hipster douchebags who would never been seen doing something uncool like actually enjoying themselves at a show. Perish the thought of un-ironically having fun! Whatever, more space for the rest of us to dance.
Hear more from Body Language and grab their new LP at their Bandcamp.
